AUREL’s pedestrian protection test laboratory is the only facility of its kind in the Czech Republic. It focuses on testing vehicle safety, particularly in the area of pedestrian protection. As the requirements of leading global automotive manufacturers continue to increase, AUREL responds accordingly and continues to advance its capabilities. In July this year, the laboratory obtained international accreditation in accordance with EN ISO/IEC 17025. What does this mean for customers?
Pedestrian protection test facility and testing laboratory
Since 2011, AUREL’s pedestrian protection test facility has specialised in testing pedestrian safety and the protection of vulnerable road users. At the same time, it operates as a dynamic laboratory, enabling testing with a high level of precision and repeatability.
The laboratory received its accreditation certificate from the Czech Accreditation Institute (ČIA) under identification number 1807. It has thus become part of a global network of laboratories whose test results are internationally valid and recognised – without the need for repeated testing in other countries. This step confirms the company’s long-term commitment to the highest levels of quality, accuracy, and international credibility.

“Accreditation is highly prestigious and significantly enhances our credibility. Although it places higher demands on us in terms of process documentation, we are proud to be the only facility in the Czech Republic able to offer internationally accredited pedestrian protection tests to both our existing and future customers,” says Miroslav Pažout, Head of Testing at AUREL.
What does accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025 mean?
This standard represents an internationally recognised benchmark for the technical competence of testing and calibration laboratories. As part of the accreditation process, all procedures are assessed – from test preparation and monitoring of environmental conditions to result evaluation. Particular emphasis is placed on metrological traceability, including the accuracy, calibration, and traceability of measuring equipment used.
Accreditation formally confirms that the laboratory:
- Is technically competent – it employs qualified personnel, uses precise measurement systems, and applies validated methods that meet current standards and customer requirements.
- Has an established quality management system – operating in accordance with clearly defined and documented procedures.
- Ensures secure data backup – covering primary records, processed data, high-speed video footage, and related outputs.
System-Driven quality management
Accreditation requires a continuously functioning quality management system that ensures both technical accuracy and transparency towards customers and institutions. This includes, for example:
- regular monitoring of the test environment,
- documented testing procedures,
- secure backup of test data and primary records,
- controlled processes for receiving, storing, and releasing tested components or vehicles.
Thanks to this approach, all test results are repeatable, verifiable, and trustworthy – an essential requirement for automotive manufacturers.

Greater credibility, international recognition, and innovation
Achieving accreditation brings tangible benefits not only to AUREL, but above all to its customers:
- Higher credibility of test results – providing automotive manufacturers with confidence that tests meet the highest professional standards.
- International recognition – test reports are accepted abroad, simplifying international cooperation and homologation processes.
- A stable foundation for development and innovation – accreditation supports precision and quality in the development of new solutions.
Confirmation of a long-term commitment to quality
For fourteen years, the testing laboratory has been building its infrastructure, expert team, advanced technologies, and know-how, enabling it to provide services to leading OEM and Tier 1 customers. Obtaining this accreditation is another significant confirmation of AUREL’s professionalism and high service standards. Customers gain a partner whose results they can fully rely on – whether for pedestrian protection testing or other dynamic tests within the automotive industry.
